Story Of A Mother's Prayer

On one day, I made a mistake to my mother without realizing that it was a mistake. This happened when I told my mom for doing something not in accordance with Islamic law. As a Muslim, we have an obligation to enjoin the good and forbid the conduct proscribed in the rules of religion. However, we also have an obligation to respect and honor both our parents.

When I was in a position of guilt to my mother, I was really in a very uncertain life. Whatever I did, I felt very hard and always failed. I found out what the cause of all this. I prayed, asked Allah and the answer was I had to ask sorry to my mother. And that made the wonder was, when I apologized to my mother, the next day, my businesses that were difficult, changed to became so easy and everything went smoothly until now.

In Al Qur'an, 2 verses of surah Ali Imron below, which becomes a handle on life to tell us to do good and forbid not good.

Surah 3. Ali Imran, Verse, 104 :
"Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islam), enjoining Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (polytheism and disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden). And it is they who are the successful."

Surah 3. Ali Imran, Verse, 110 :
"You [true believers in Islamic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad and his Sunnah (legal ways, etc.)] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden), and you believe in Allah. And had the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) believed, it would have been better for them; among them are some who have faith, but most of them are Al-Fasiqun (disobedient to Allah - and rebellious against Allah's Command)."

There are six verses in Al Quran tells us to do good deeds to both parents.

Surah 17. AL ISRAA’, Verse, 23 :
"And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour."

Surah 17. AL ISRAA’, Verse, 24 :
"And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small."

Surah 29. AL’ANKABUUT, Verse, 8 :
"And We have enjoined on man to be good and dutiful to his parents, but if they strive to make you join with Me (in worship) anything (as a partner) of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do."

Surah 2. AL BAQARAH, Verse, 83 :
"And (remember) when We took a covenant from the Children of Israel, (saying): Worship none but Allah (Alone) and be dutiful and good to parents, and to kindred, and to orphans and Al-Masakin (the poor), [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 10, Page 158 (Verse 9:60)] and speak good to people [i.e. enjoin righteousness and forbid evil, and say the truth about Muhammad Peace be upon him ], and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat. Then you slid back, except a few of you, while you are backsliders."

Surah 31. LUQMAN, Verse, 14 :
"And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning is in two years give thanks to Me and to your parents, unto Me is the final destination."

Surah 31. LUQMAN, Verse, 15 :
"But if they (both) strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not, but behave with them in the world kindly, and follow the path of him who turns to Me in repentance and in obedience. Then to Me will be your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do."
